"This photograph shoes a Northumbrian piper in traditional dress. Bagpipes
from neighbouring Scotland are more famous throughout the world as a
whole, but Northumbrian bagpipes, consisting of one chanter and four
drones, can lay just as great a claim to being part of the heritage
of the region from where they come. Played well, as they are by the
man shown here, the Northumbrian pipes can be used to play some fine
melodies."
