Biography
Gary Shrimpling is a Graphic Designer who lives on the outskirts of Durham City.
He had his first taste of photography while studying design at university
however it would be fifteen years later before he started taking it
seriously. A self-taught photographer since 2005, Gary began shooting
landscapes. Currently, he prefers the challenge of exploring the streets
with his camera, capturing unexpected and surreal moments.
Statement
"I was born in Easington, County Durham. At the age of two, I moved
to Scotland with my parents and returned to the North East of England
thirteen years later, complete with a broad Scottish accent and two
siblings in tow. We kept the siblings, but, sadly, I had to lose the
accent. Despite having lived in County Durham for most of my adult life,
it is only in the last couple of years I have started researching the
local history in greater detail of this wonderful and historic county."
